I don’t know how many years it has been, but my phone has been on silent for a long-ass while. If I had to guess, it would probably be around 8–10 years!
I knew I was destined for the quiet and peaceful life from since I was a teenager living in my parent’s house. I discovered the hard way that I get overly stimulated by noise, and so I would calm my anxieties by turning off the TV whenever it was left on and by unplugging the phone. To this day noise bothers me. It startles me. It interrupts my thoughts and freaks me out. I view noise as a literal pest that shouldn’t be there.
