A Healthier You Should Be Your Fitness Inspiration, Not That Social Media Influencer
Last weekend, I was doing a headstand on my yoga mat when I fell sideways and injured my neck and back. This week I am taking it easy so that I can recover. I’ve been sleeping a lot and making sure to not do any strenuous exercise.
Before I took that nasty tumble, I ordered some new workout equipment and activewear. I am excited to finally add some strength training to my exercise regimen. Currently, my routine consists heavily of cardio by way of dancing, coupled with some yoga. But strength training is important for our bodies, and for the first time I am going to incorporate resistance into my workouts.
I’ve been looking on social media for exercises I can do, and of course I came across so many women with amazing, toned bodies. And while I certainly admire the results of their discipline and hard work, I know that they are not #goals for my fitness journey at all.
A healthier, stronger, and more toned me is my only fitness inspiration at this point. Let me explain why.
Before, I used to save so many photos of fit women as inspiration because I wanted my body to look like theirs. Thing is, there are so many reasons why I probably won’t get the same results.
