I have always considered myself to be a generous person. I enjoyed using money to make my friends and family happy. The amount anyone needed didn’t matter to me; if I could provide it I was happy to do so.
One time my good friend needed an additional $300.00 to go back home to Trinidad with her mother to visit her family. She had the most disappointed look on her face as she told me she wasn’t going to come up with the money in time. The next time I saw her I just handed her the bills. The look of gratefulness as tears welled up in her eyes was more than enough payment for me. But she did pay me back even though I told her it was unnecessary.
I guess I was so generous in the past because I associated with like-minded people who had integrity. They gave their word and acted accordingly. I knew that if they didn’t pay me back in money they would always find a way to compensate for my kind deeds. So I never worried about…
