“For many men, submission means a woman is willing to go with the flow, and trust that her man will do what’s right and what’s best no matter what. The problem with this is that the flow usually leads to a woman being taken advantage of.”

“Femininity is not synonymous to submission. The feminine has never submitted to the masculine. She simply chooses to play a role that is advantageous to her desires.”

“You’re not submissive.”

My date said this to me on the phone a few days after our dinner date. I was shocked to hear him say these words. On our past dates I tried my best to let him take the lead, but he thought I was too demanding for expecting to be treated like a woman. After much deliberation I decided to just say “Fuck it!” to a facade I didn’t even believe in. While he claimed that women like me are immoral and selfish he ended up falling in love with the real me, the woman with the bad attitude who was raw, vulgar, and cursing him out on the phone regularly.

“Have you ever done any magic on me?” he asked softly while laying next to me in bed. He had just asked for sex and got denied.

“No. Why?” I asked.

“Because I can’t help but be drawn to you,” he responded.
