I say this to all the boy-moms with the upmost sincerity:

Check yourself.

Check those emotions.

Check those feelings of abandonment.

In other words, seek help. Now.

Your son needs a wise woman for a mother, not an emotionally wounded little girl in a woman’s body who gave birth to a permanent boyfriend. In other words, your son functions as a partner who is supposed to never abandon you the way all men have in the past.

As a childfree woman I shouldn’t have to remind any mother that children have their own lives and their own feelings. These little humans are not in your life to soothe your daddy or mommy issues, nor are they here to give you a second chance at the relationship you’ve always wanted. They will be completely independent at some point in their development and leave the nest in adulthood. And you will have to deal with those suppressed traumas eventually. You cannot hide from yourself forever.

Again, get help. I am being serious.
