Doing any form of labor for free to keep a man who can’t afford to pay professionals and calling that shit work is settling.

A young lady published the following post on Twitter regarding the housewife life:

Describing women who clean and run a house, look after multiple children and source and prepare food for a spouse as “not working” is surely one of the most successful conspiracies of the 20th century.

Frankly, I don’t see any conspiracy in sight. Running a household for free, or even for room and board like these wives are doing, is not work. Because in our 20th century work is typically described as an exchange of labor for money. So exactly what financial compensation are these housewives receiving? I mean, we even call their tasks a labor of love! Do we consider the responsibilities of employed staff who perform similar duties a labor of love? Of course not. Why? Because they are paid. They are not paid in love. They are paid in money.

But leave it to these wives to accept love as a valid form of payment! It is the most maddening shit I…

Let’s say for argument’s sake that this is work. I still must ask, is it work that women actually want to do? That’s the million-dollar question.
