Your insecurities and problems with your face, hair and body may not even be about you. They were manufactured as an integral part of some faceless millionaire or billionaire’s end goal.
The gatekeeper most of us ladies know to stand in between us and our confidence is the media. This is why it is important to perform rituals that make you feel and look your best including reminding yourself of how precious and beautiful you are. Why? Because everyone is creating their own rituals like repetitive commercials, TV shows, movies and music to make you feel like shit so that you can run to the makeup counters, cosmetic surgeon’s offices, grocery stores, malls and drugstores to make them richer!
Black women especially have it bad, as we possess a unique look that cannot be exploited for cash since over 90% of the world’s population of women look nothing like us, which is especially the case of the dark-skinned black woman with coiled hair and more dramatic facial features. We literally exist on the opposite end of the lucrative, conventional beauty standard, which is why we are the most demonized. Still, the beauty standard spans far beyond racism. It’s all about those Benjamins!
