Apparently Women Move Like Queens When They Ignore Men?

“It is truly a tragedy to find a woman who works like a man in order to keep a man around her.”

I will never forget the evening when my then boyfriend and I were on the phone. We were discussing how much I’ve rapidly changed over the course of our relationship, and how I rarely paid him and his confusing, ever-changing criticisms any mind anymore. Curiosity got the best of me, and I asked him how he felt about the “new me.”

“Well you used to be very emotional. But now you move like a queen,” he told me.

I’m not going to lie; his comment, while honest and sounds like a compliment, stung me a little. Mainly because when we met I tried my hardest to put my innate feminine authority to the side and make him feel like a man. You know, the way many men claim they should be treated.

Had I listened to my intuition and refused to be desperate to have a man in my life, I could’ve bypassed his mental tricks and treated him the way I saw fit. If I had done things my way he wouldn’t have had the proof to call me an emotional woman, especially in a derogatory way.

After realizing he was duping me into becoming another forgotten servant of love I gave him nothing but grief, and maybe some laughs due to my playfulness and stories about the nonsense my past…
