So many men have made millions of dollars many times over because they have sold women the promise of a man through many paid avenues. If you pay attention to our beauty, fashion, entertainment, fitness, and diet industries, their collective profit is in the billions of dollars due to the marketing honing in on a woman’s desire for romance and companionship.

While I get annoyed that so many men believe that everything we do is for their gaze and approval, I cannot help but admit that they might be on to something. I mean, are women really more interested and focused on improving themselves and their lives for their sole benefit, as opposed to bettering themselves mainly for the potential of a relationship? I don’t think so.

I’ve noticed that even the concepts of self-love and self-care really aren’t about self! The main theme is centered around the kind of lasting, slow love we deserve and the romantic gestures we should expect from men, even though the kicker is that no one really owes us anything as a reward for us working on ourselves.
