Before Anyone Can Give You Your Flowers You Must Give Them To Yourself First!
Those flowers you are expecting in the beginning will begin to show up as you grow into your role and become more comfortable with the ups and downs of the creative process.
So many people who are interested in creation, especially through business, are not equipped to handle the reality that they will have to give themselves a lot of flowers, or time, recognition, appreciation, purpose, financial investment, and love before anyone else does! This is one of the most overlooked reasons why so many people quit this self-employment thing so early: they want their potential audience, fans, customers, or clients to hurry up and make them feel as if what they are doing is worth continuing.
But I am here to tell you that those people will never show up, especially if you say “Fuck it” and walk away; or they will show up much, much later than you expect them to. Or, they will show up to congratulate you on a job well done in the form of earnings, tips, engagement, and love letters whenever they feel like it, which may not be on a consistent basis.
And you know what? They should do this! They should give you ample time to trust yourself and your purpose enough to continue investing in yourself day in and day out, even when you are not receiving a steady stream of rewards…
