Black Men & Black Women Don’t Need Each Other. There, I Said It.

“What person who calls you a queen and claims they love you would intentionally leave you and their children to go hungry and die in the hood?”

I’ve been thinking about this for years, and I am finally comfortable saying it out loud: black men and black women really don’t need each other. Notice I didn’t just specify black women not needing black men. I mentioned both parties, although black men have pioneered the divested movement ages before black women announced their departure from this community more recently.

In other words, black men were divested long before black women created their own empowerment movement. But it seems as though they are now up in arms over a movement black women are participating in that these men originally created for their own benefit.

From their apartments in the dangerous ghettos which are filled with the black man’s children, many black women have been watching their baby daddies, fathers, brothers, and friends desert them to be with other races of women. And it is only recently that black women began to follow suit and either choose themselves, choose other races of men, or choose black men who are like-minded with expansive familial and financial goals.
