Black Women Enjoy Being Defiant At Work. But When It Comes To Men…

I came across a reel on Instagram that left me utterly speechless. In the reel a black woman decided to rock a head of disheveled braids to work that were clearly wrapped tightly underneath a bonnet or a head wrap as a defiant stance against her corporate job’s dress code. According to this young lady her place of business doesn’t allow head wraps in the workplace.

Now some black ladies may find this act of resistance to be downright hilarious. But I find it to be absolutely disturbing. Besides covering your head for religious reasons, there is no half-way decent reason that head wraps should be worn to work.

Some black women pick and choose where their head wraps and bonnets are appropriate to wear, and I am left scratching my head as to why their place of employment, where they receive a check to pay their bills and provide for their families, is considered a location where this level of comfortability shouldn’t be left alone.
