Can You Respect Yourself & Be An Attention Whore At The Same Damn Time?
Maybe self-respect means that you respect your personal truth and your happiness enough to do whatever the fuck you want?
Seriously, you cannot control what men are attracted to. You cannot control how men perceive you. If they want to respect you they will. If they don’t then they won’t. Simple. You also cannot dress or perform your way out of the abuse that can result from men desiring you and wanting to control you. As if women who wear burkas or cover up from head to toe are not harassed or raped!
Growing up, there was a saying that a woman should be a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets, as if respecting yourself means you should hide your inner vixen from coming out to play in the daytime. Apparently being sensual should only be reserved for some special man instead of a way of living. Sensuality is creation’s gift to women. You are allowed to feel sexy at any time of the day or night, whether you are single or partnered. You don’t have to reserve this part of your nature for the future when you think someone is going to show up in your life.
You can dress however you want now. You can do whatever you want now. You can be whomever you want to be now. You don’t owe some man you haven’t met yet this gift as if he is the only special person in your life.
