“Why there are no black men who seem to be excited to cherish, provide for, and dote on Somebody’s Daughter?”

A few months ago I uploaded a video to my Instagram that was viewed by my small private list of followers, since I was curious about this strange obsession black women have regarding black love. I asked my female audience to provide me with one logical reason why it is appropriate to label anything pertaining to two black people in a relationship as black love.

Some ladies liked my video. But nobody came forward.

In my opinion the label itself is silly, because why call any love “black?” We don’t go around saying white love, Asian love, or hispanic love, so why is black love even a thing? Also, this idea that black love is so revolutionary is downright hilarious, because what is so damn special about dating or loving someone who looks like you? Black people are free to date each other if they please. It’s not that serious or life-changing to see a black couple!

However, given that a healthy heterosexual romantic dynamic between black men and black women is indeed rare, this is what makes it so inspirational to black women. Hence the term revolutionary.
