“Choose Better”: The Most Delicious, Convenient Red Herring That Gaslights Women
Almost every woman who was graced planet earth has heard the blanket statement, “Choose better” at some point in their lives. After all, this catch phrase has escaped the lips of both men and women alike to conveniently place any blame everyone holds in a woman’s terrible experiences with the opposite sex on her.
But what if I told you that this two-word sentence is one of the most infamous distractions out there, because if our society actually wanted women to choose better they would work hand-in-hand with both mothers and fathers on producing and raising a better stock of men?
Instead of only looking at the men, what if women equally are at fault, as they are the gatekeepers who choose which men are granted legacies through children? After all, mothers are responsible for birthing all the men in this world: the decent ones, as well as the rapists, wife beaters, alcoholics, pedophiles, and murderers. It takes two people to have sex, but it takes one woman to decide whether she should risk her health, autonomy, and life to get pregnant and bring another boy into this world.
What if we got over our fear of pushback and straight up asked women why they are birthing another generation of sons they know they cannot raise properly? What if we no longer excused…
