Dear Parents, How On Earth Is Birthing More Corporate Slaves “Leaving A Legacy?”
“Isn’t a legacy all about leaving your kids better off than you were? Isn’t that the point of extending the bloodline?”
I have been hearing a lot of talk from parents, wannabe parents, and childfree people alike about the concept of building a legacy by way of children. But I am confused as to why the average person who has nothing to pass down to their children is so obsessed with their legacy, especially when their “legacy” is only reared to overwork themselves Monday to Friday and drink themselves into a stupor to numb their emotions every weekend?
In my opinion, very few families actually leave a legacy that affects their children positively. The average cash-strapped couple believing they are leaving a legacy worth remembering simply by having unprotected sex is proof that many people who want children do not think much about the quality of life their human legacy will enjoy or not enjoy. Many children grow up to be adults only to complain about capitalism and Corporate America instead of referring back to their parents for answers as to why mom and dad decided to start a family without any legacy in the form of money, assets, resources, and privilege they don’t have to work for!
