Do You Have What It Takes To Become The Ultimate Risk Taker?
Choosing to become your own powerful entity separate from the approval of others and the comforts that come with a life you hate is the ultimate risk.
And I dare you to take it.
It’s hilarious how I have sat in the back seat in various cars, vans, and SUVs belonging to men of different ages, races, and lifestyles and yet they all have one thing in common.
All of them lose their everlasting minds when we get to talking and they discover that I do not want to get married or have children. Their initial reactions almost appear rehearsed, because it is the same song and dance when a woman dares to separate herself from the hopeless romantic programming:
“Wow! Really? You must have gone through some stuff.”
“Are you okay?!”
“Were you traumatized or something?”
The answers to all of these questions is a resounding yes. I am not not okay just because I choose to be single. But did shitty situations with shitty people do a fantastic job in influencing me to make the decision to remain alone? Absolutely.
Now I do believe the questions and assumptions about trauma are well-meaning, and yet I cannot help but predict that men who come across this news about me seek comfort in…
