Female Breadwinners & Faux Equality: Why The Hell Are Women Retiring Their Husbands?!
“If men make more money than women, why is your man not upgrading your life in some way, shape, or form for this discrepancy instead of wasting his life away on your damn couch for the sake of feminism?”
A few years ago a friend informed me that Tabitha Brown, the gorgeous vegan chef, author, and entrepreneur, was retiring her husband from the police force. With a dropped open mouth I clicked on many photos posted online of his lavish retirement party.
“I’m lost. Why didn’t he have his own plans to retire if he hated his job so much?” I asked her.
For the past few years we have seen an uprise in female breadwinners, along with so many hardworking, motivated boss women boldly proclaim online that their ultimate goal is to retire their husband. I am not a feminist, however I try my best to be happy for these women in their decision to switch roles with their man in the name of equality and love. And while it is ultimately their choice that has absolutely nothing to do with me, I just can’t bring myself to understand or accept it.
The most pressing question on my mind when a woman retires her husband is as follows:
