Harsh Truth: Parents Are Not Superheroes!

In today’s episode of Shit That Makes Absolutely No Sense, I want to debunk the popular concept that society perpetuates and parents reiterate as truth, and that is the concept that parents are superheroes.
No.

Bear in mind that this article is not me attempting to shit on parents and make them feel bad, but simply to analyze the notion that those who choose to take on the role of parenting are not superheroes. Sure, moms and dads are many things, and I can even provide some wonderful adjectives and titles to describe my own parents.
But would I call them superheroes for giving my brother and I life we never asked for just so we can helplessly lean on them for nearly a fifth of our lifetimes?

I am failing to see the correlation between a parent and a superhero. Sure, a parent is providing their little one with the essentials they need to thrive and grow into a fully-formed adult, including food, shelter, education, clothing, discipline, family, love, and more. I am going to assume that moms and dads call themselves…
