Hello,
I am not tone deaf to the experiences of all women. However, I don’t need anyone to “All Lives Matter” my articles, so to speak.
As a black woman I intentionally choose to highlight my personal experiences with black men to educate and shed light on the shortcomings of our culture; the darkness that the media refuses to understand because they insist on painting black men as innocent victims when they are not.
I don’t need a reminder that all women go through this. I am well aware of our struggles as women in general, regardless of race.
I know you mean no harm, but have a little compassion and do not interject yourself into certain “spaces” where black women are speaking freely, especially under the guise of caring for all women. It feels very similar to men saying, “But women do it too!” and “Not all men.” It comes off as very disrespectful.
Thanks for reading.
