How Society Distorts The Frequency Of Love Into A Contest For Value & Respect

In the spiritual community there is a widely popular notion which claims that love is the highest frequency. In our society, we are obsessed with love in a distorted kind of way, as we mainly use attractiveness to determine who is loved and valued. This is because physical appearance alone is supposed to tell us whether that person loves themselves enough. It’s kind of a “like attracts like” dynamic. Many people are drawn to those who appear as if they love themselves, and we are conditioned to gauge this self-love through aesthetics.

My birthday weekend just passed, and I spent the day with my brother. We went shopping and out to dinner afterwards. And while I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself, the overthinker in me made a few keen observations based on how I was viewed and treated by strangers.

Needless to say, heads turn and people go out of their way to accommodate us whenever we are out and about because we both love to dress up. And yes, this is despite both of us being black and having darker skin. We live in a predominantly white area where flip flops, oversized t-shirts, and loosely fitting shorts are the uniform of choice for both men and women.
