I Am Done Loving Broken Men Into Being Better People.

I largely preach against loyalty because I am a woman. What I mean is that women usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to staying put, sticking around, and going to hell and back for others who refuse to do the same for them. This one-sided loyalty usually plays out in the romantic relationships of women.
I am embarrassed to admit this, but I have stuck with men through their abuse, disrespect, emotional manipulation, yelling, coercion, and even forceful tactics to get me to do whatever they wanted. I am pretty sure that if I was to exhibit these same mean-spirited behaviors I wouldn’t have been granted the love, grace, adoration, and sweetness I gave these men that didn’t deserve it. I probably would’ve been discarded like hot garbage.
But I am not the only one who has this story to tell. Many women not only put up with this shit on the daily for years and even decades, but they believe it is an honor for them to prove their loyalty to broken men who are only loyal to themselves and their interests.
And sure, many of us have received some improved behavior and gratefulness out of our sacrifice. But at what cost?
