As a little girl I created a unique ritual of sitting in the dark for hours. There were times when I wouldn’t even eat for long periods of time. I forgot hunger existed as I planted myself on the white couch in the living room to think.
My parents would walk in the room and they would almost always let out a gasp as they witnessed their daughter lying still without the lights on. The truth is that I used to be scared shitless of the dark. But I found the courage to embrace the evening and the witching hours without any night lights or reassurance from my parents to pray and ask the angels to protect me. My obsession with the darkness at such a young age laid the foundation for me to seek my own truth, no matter how frightened and intimidated I was.
I dated a guy who always reminded me that I was a strongly opinionated woman. This analysis made absolutely no sense to me, as I was a shy individual who carefully tip-toed…
