In My Opinion, Sleeping Alone Is The Best Perk About Being A Single Woman

“As a happily single woman I do not have to compromise on many things, and this is certainly one rule that I am not wavering on. If you snore, I implore you to find your own bed and stay far away from mine.”

Rapper and songwriter Drake recorded a song titled Hate Sleeping Alone. Tonight I decided to listen the track and after the chorus my ears had enough. I turned that shit off with the quickness.

Sorry Drake, but I cannot relate. At all.

In my previous relationships I always dreaded nighttime. Once the moon was up in the sky I knew there was going to be a battle of the sexes. I am an insomniac, and trying to fall asleep every night is a mountainous task that requires a lot of concentration and will power. In the past I needed the sinister calm of absolute darkness to relax but my partner always wanted to stream Netflix in the background as the soft, familiar voices from the screen put him to sleep.

“I am not watching the TV. It is watching me,” he would always claim as a lazy excuse to justify why he couldn’t be more considerate of my needs.

Then there was the frustration regarding sleeping schedules. It takes me hours to fall asleep, and that’s if I even sleep at all that night! My man would be snoring within…
