Is It Just A Dance, Or A Form Of Cheating?
What appears to be an innocent dance in my mind is a form of cheating and deception in the minds of others who don’t share my culture.
If there is one thing you must know about Caribbean people, it is that we are party professionals. We enjoy getting dressed to the nines, hanging out, meeting new friends, dancing to upbeat music, and having a good time.
As a woman of Trinidadian descent, it tickles me to witness how angry people get whenever a woman or man they are with decides to celebrate their body autonomy by dancing with someone else at a party. I don’t believe that liking or admiring someone, dating them, or even being married to them, dictates that you should control what they should do with their body.
