Is Self-Care Keeping Women Broke?

I am taking the road less traveled and holding myself to a higher standard than the status quo because I deserve to give myself a higher standard of life.

In my working girl days I was no different than the millions of women in New York City who didn’t blink an eye or think twice when it came to misusing money on nonsensical impulse purchases due to the popular sultry, feel good lie of, “I deserve this.”

If you pay close attention to the heaps of garbage being marketed to us ladies, because the dollars belonging to women create the same millionaire and billionaire men they complain about, the overall consensus is that we deserve to indulge in every single thing being dangled in our faces, from makeup, perfume, clothes, lingerie, shoes, chocolate, the works! While these messages may feel good in the interim as it certainly feels worthwhile to exchange money for something shiny and new, are these habits actually helping us or are they harming us?

Furthermore, are we being taken for fools by immediately spending our hard-earned monies on purchases that make us feel good in the moment but shitty in the long run when we look back and realize that we have created a terrible habit out of wasting money we could’ve used to better ourselves and our lives?
