Is This Why Abuse Survivors Struggle To Receive?
If you are in a constant state of distress, you are rarely in a position to receive anything favorable to your well-being.
Our emotions and stress levels affect our hormones and throw them out of wack. This is why true health does not only consist of the fuel we put in our bodies and how often we move our bodies. Our mental and emotional states play a big role in so many things: how well we can digest our food and absorb the nutrients we are consuming, how well our bodies recover from exercise and build muscle, how healthy our skin looks, and how deeply we sleep, if we sleep at all.
Stress is nicknamed the silent killer for a reason.
Our bodies are not meant to remain in fight-or-flight mode 24/7. This reaction was intelligently programmed in our bodies to prepare us to handle real danger, but PTSD and the traumatic thought loops that replay in our heads keep us perceiving danger and even expecting it, even when our surroundings dictate that we are completely safe.
It can be difficult to effectively receive anything beneficial, like sleep, or pleasure, or money, plus opportunities to expand in life when you are a control freak. Receiving requires a flow that comes to those ladies who are relaxed enough to know that they will always receive what they want and need. On the other hand…
