Isn’t It About Time You Took Your Life More Seriously Than Your Job?
“What are the free, sacrificial roles in your life that you would never apply for if it were an actual job?”
I was scrolling through Facebook when I randomly came across a post from a podcast called “LIVE kidfree.” The post reads as follows:
“If motherhood were a job description, few would apply.”
I had to stare at my screen for a while, because the wording was clever and had me thinking. Motherhood, and parenting in general, is one of those permanent life roles that does not pay a living wage, if at all, and many singles and couples are willingly applying for this lifestyle. So per the post, why is it that these same mothers wouldn’t apply if it were an actual job with a salary and benefits?
The question I am asking you to ponder on is this: Why are some of us taking our jobs more seriously than our everyday lives?
If we really think about it, many of us will spend hours a day researching job openings on different job sites. We do our due diligence on the companies we see ourselves working for in the near future. We look up salaries and job reviews from current employees. Even if we score an interview, we may still have doubts about our decision to attend, and wonder if we are wasting our time.
