Journal Entry #11: Pole Dancing & The Fear Surrounding It. Oh My!

“While I do believe that I owe it to myself to conquer the very sport that left me breathless and humiliated, I am fearful that I won’t stick with it long-term.”

One of my favorite dancers posted an Instagram story detailing how pole dancing changed her body for the better. She claimed that this form of fitness toned her body and made her stronger. Of course I was intrigued.

It really got me thinking about my fitness goals and how I am on my personal fitness journey. I have done a good job of being disciplined enough to lose over 35 pounds from since I moved out of NYC. While I am pleased with my work thus far I still have a ways to go in terms of obtaining those sexy cuts all over my body.

“Should I buy a pole and take up pole dancing?” I thought to myself. This mental inquiry was initiated by that social media post; however, I do have some unfinished business as it pertains to the exercise in general.

Back in Manhattan I used to take weekly pole dancing classes at my gym. And let me tell you, I was terrible at it! I am blessed with naturally strong legs but my upper body strength was pretty much nonexistent at the time.
