“Let’s quit prioritizing the false innocence of these disgusting criminals over our obligation as citizens, mothers, and family members to keep ourselves and others safe, all because they are men!”

I would be a wealthy-as-fuck woman if I had a dollar for every opportunity I had to call the cops on abusive men. Whether these men were colleagues, boyfriends, family members, “friends,” or complete strangers, their self-serving actions that traumatized me and left lasting emotional impressions on my perception of my personal safety meant they deserved to be arrested.

A few days ago I had a dream that tested my growth as a woman. In the dream my family visited an older man who happened to be a friend of the family. I really liked him; he was highly educated and very intelligent, plus our cynical personalities clicked immediately. While my family remained inside of his large home to warm up he took me outside to show off his acres of land and the adorable animals that roamed on it.

While we were walking and chatting I noticed how much closer his body was inching towards mine. As he showed me the rolling hills beyond his property he placed his arm around my shoulder. I began to get suspicious but I decided his gesture was okay.
