If it wasn’t for black men telling us that being shaped like a coke bottle was the epitome of beauty, would we be so hesitant to exercise and eat differently for the sake of bettering our lives?
I believe that many black women are quite literally dying for attention. They know they need to make significant changes to increase the quality of their lives or just to stay alive in general; but the attention they receive from the opposite sex mean much more to them than remaining alive and possibly receiving less attention than they do now!
If it wasn’t for black men telling us that being thick and shaped like a coke bottle was the epitome of beauty, would we be so hesitant to exercise and eat differently for the sake of bettering our quality of life?
How many of us are actually interested in lifting weights to get stronger and feel more confident as stronger women who can do more for ourselves instead of using the gym to gain some curves and fill out a pair of leggings for men to stare as we walk past them? When you examine your habits, do most or even all of these habits have some external reward of a potential relationship or recognition attached to your strict discipline? Are you doing things to increase life or to increase approval from others? Or maybe it’s a little bit of both?
