Loneliness Is Not A Condition. It Cannot Be Cured By Being In A Relationship

I am a single woman. And I thoroughly enjoy being single. Unlike many people, I don’t look at being single as a curse. Being able to solely focus on myself has many benefits.

For example, tonight I decided to dance after completing my 500 crunches for my Get it Right Get it Tight Challenge. While dancing, the following thought came to mind:

“I have all this time to exercise because I don’t have to cater to a man.”

Funny. But true.

Interestingly enough, many people, especially men, deem single women as lonely and bitter. Meanwhile, the same males who make these outlandish claims are single themselves. So, does this mean they are lonely and bitter too?

I’m not sure why there is a correlation between being single and lonely, but that certainly is not the case. I can attest to that.

Loneliness is not a condition. There is no real cure for loneliness. Being lonely is a part of being human. Everyone gets lonely at times, no matter their relationship status.

I have felt completely alone while being in a crowd, or while hanging out with friends. And I have felt so content and happy while spending copious amounts of time by myself. I truly enjoy my own company. Like some people, I prefer to be alone for long stretches of time. I get so much done on my own terms without considering the needs of others. It is also my time to rejuvenate my spirit.

I hope that we can reconsider the true meaning of loneliness. This feeling can occur at any time, regardless if someone holds the keys to your heart or not.
