Maybe Relationships Are Nothing More Than Spoiled Situationships?

If you cannot stand in your authenticity as a single man or woman, surely you are not searching for “real” in a relationship.

The Open House Podcast, hosted by Louise Rumball, posted a reel to promote an episode that had me thinking about how the majority of singles want something out of their relationships that may possibly be out of reach for them.

The reel reads as follows:

I wish I had learned sooner that them liking your photos means nothing. Them taking you out means nothing. Great sex means nothing. Them kissing your forehead means nothing. References to the future mean nothing.

“I’ve never felt like this before” means nothing.

Truthfully, words and actions do not really mean anything until they tell you they want a relationship and they want a relationship with you. The rest? It’s a recipe for situationship heartbreak.

The caption underneath spoke about misinterpreting the trap of situationships as something real. Now I am not here to take away from Louise’s work, but when it comes to women and the physical manifestations of what they desire I like to “reverse engineer” the process and begin from the root, which will always begin with you as the individual. Because every single thing stems from you.
