Men Are Right, Ladies. You Are Going To Die Alone.
“In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes.”
-Benjamin Franklin
My family is together for Labor Day weekend. And it feels nice for us to be under the same roof again. At least temporarily.
Tonight I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood before indulging in a short but sweet weight lifting session. I needed some fresh air and it’s something about strolling under the moonlight that calms my mind.
As I was walking past a few houses I saw a couple walk up towards me in the distance. They were my parents. My mother had her arm around my father’s and I could tell they were trying to make out the woman was walking towards them.
We passed each other and I waved slightly. My dad laughed and called out my name. I kept walking the opposite direction while my parents were almost to the house. Then I turned around and witnessed the most distressing ordeal of the evening.
My father started to do a little jog and then he quickly ran out of breath. He collapsed onto the cement road to catch his breath. My mother had her entire petite frame wrapped around his body as he sat and collected himself. A flood of thoughts rushed to my head as I saw my dad in such a feeble state.
“This is what it means to grow old together,” I thought. And that is just painful.
