Once I realized that I really do not care for the traditional monogamous long-term relationship everyone tells me I should aspire to, I became a more relaxed woman. I stopped looking for husbands and serious boyfriends in every single man I met. I began to appreciate the humor, silliness, and brutal honesty men add to my life. This has made me a more intelligent and well-rounded person, because I am willing to listen to the shit I don’t want to hear for my own good.
One aspect I had to mend when it came to dealing with the opposite sex was learning how to handle their sexual feelings towards me. Before I used to find it crass and quite offensive that a man would want to fuck me without any promise of a relationship or commitment. But when I realized that those things didn’t matter to me I welcomed the honesty of men and I allowed them to feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable and share how they really felt about me.
