Men Use Babies To Humble Women
“In other words, I must humble myself by being stuck in an unfavorable situation on purpose. Because a woman is merely a female unless she has a family, right?”
“You need to have a baby and sit down somewhere,” he told me one evening on the phone.
I laughed. “I am never having kids!” I replied cheerily. “We can share custody of an animal, like a dog. The best I can do for you is a pet. But I refuse to be attached to you through kids.”
“But you will be my classy baby mama,” he said in a serious tone.
I have been asked countless times by so many men to mother their children, either in a coparenting dynamic or through marriage. And I always declined. While they would compliment me on my intellect and beauty I always knew there was an underlying, self-serving motive behind their, “Be my baby mama!” or “Marry me and have my children!” requests.
First of all, a man telling me to “sit down somewhere” really means this: I need to stop being so full of myself and in love with my life, and intentionally take on a role I know I am not equipped to handle through being permanently attached to a man in a situationship that’s already ran its course.
