Too many women have more than enough experiences and living, breathing examples of single motherhood around them to make an informed decision, through fully understanding that is it lonely as hell to raise children.

I am taking a few deep breaths right now, because I am astounded by the way some people fish for sympathy on the internet. And today I must address the relentlessness of some mothers and their cognitive dissonance as it pertains to raising children.

As a society we enjoy shouting, “It takes a village to raise a child!” from the rooftops. Well I am here to state that there is no damn village. Ladies and gentlemen, I believe it is high time we quit promising villages of supportive family, friends, and strangers to would-be, wannabe, and future mothers once and for all in hopes that they will give birth. It is quite clear that we do not have a village to give them and their offspring. So stop the damn lies.

However, I want to also give mothers and women who desire to be mothers the permission to take some responsibility and examine their surroundings, in person and online. Baby, please get it in your head that there is and never will be any village to help raise your kids. No amount of complaining, tears, or pleading will change that either.
