My Gross Domino’s Pizza Taught Me That If You Fail To Prepare, You Prepare To Fail!
A few days ago I ordered a Domino’s pizza for delivery. It was a lazy afternoon. I was hungry, and although I had a healthy, filling breakfast and lunch I didn’t have any leftovers, plus I didn’t care to wait while any chicken or fish thawed out. So I just took the plunge. I made sure to pack my pie with lots of vegetables to somewhat counteract the carb-laden food my body wasn’t accustomed to for a long time.
The pizza was disgusting.
On top of my pie being cold and downright gross, my stomach immediately ballooned as if it were filled with air. For the past few weeks I have been eating lots of fruits, vegetables, eggs, and meat while eliminating most grains from my diet. As a result, my body didn’t recognize the starchy, cheesy, refined American favorite as food. I became extremely bloated and my midsection was in uncomfortable pain.
As I went to bed and held my distended tummy I agonized over the decision I made; one I gave in to so many times in the past because I didn’t want to exercise a little patience in myself. As much as I craved a warm meal I could have improvised with a salad or some fruit which would’ve taken mere minutes to prepare.
I appreciate the nutritionists who tell people to never feel bad about giving in…
