At some point in your journey you will have to account for the lies and truths you tell yourself in all areas of your life, even as it pertains to your relationships. And one of those relationships is the one between you and your children, also known as motherhood.

This might be shocking news for some of you ladies, especially given that our society has framed motherhood to be the most fulfilling, most spiritual, most evolutionary and rewarding thing a woman can do in her lifetime. Even the spiritual community is highly pro-natalist in ways that glorify this role to the point where women who don’t want kids or cannot have them feel isolated and rejected.

I am using my platforms to spread the contrarian gospel that contradicts this idea that all mothers are feminine goddesses who were blessed with children instead of women who were extremely unprepared for this role and are winging it just because they had unprotected sex. Not to downplay or disrespect anyone’s experience or genuine happiness and fulfillment in this role, but did your god actually bless you with a child…or did…
