I look at life this way: if it has nothing to do with me I don’t care. Call my stance selfish all you want to, but when you realize that everyone benefits from you paying attention to their drama-filled lives while you are left with wasted time and energy that’s when you begin to move differently.
Too many of us are caught up in making the drama of our loved ones our own. When we discover that someone we know and love is being attacked the first thing we do is get defensive and take sides. I am telling you that getting emotionally tangled in the bullshit your grown-ass adult friends and family members find themselves in is not your responsibility. If you believe giving away your energy so freely means you are being loyal you may want to rethink if you want to be loyal in the first place.
Personally, I don’t give a damn about loyalty. I will distance myself or even bow out of situations and relationships that drain me with the quickness! And that includes drama.
