I don’t know who needs to hear this, but “My kids will take care of me” is not an intelligent objective for many reasons.

As a childfree woman I have heard my share of, “Who’s gonna take care of you when you’re older?” inquiries from parents without them realizing it is extremely selfish to demand their children give them grandkids, be successful in their careers, own a home and pay bills, get married, and take care of their asses when they are too sick to do it themselves.

I am amazed that so many parents have a fly-by-night mentality when it comes to their quality of life in their elderly years. Then again, it shouldn’t surprise me; they have the same fly-by-night mindset when it came to starting a family too.

They use the guise of “God’s will” to justify being too horny, too impulsive, and too irresponsible to actually plan their families, and plan their lives and futures in general. A lot of them find themselves in the most unfortunate of situations that they caused, and they expect either their god or their kids to rescue them from the consequences that will manifest in the future.
