A lack of acknowledgement, likes, comments, and even earnings does not grant you permission to quit.
As a creative you are one powerful, complex individual who wears different hats. With your work you are literally dismantling a piece of your personal essence and life force energy on purpose and sharing this intimate piece of yourself with your audience regularly. It is simultaneously rewarding and draining.
In this space you must be prepared to feel a bunch of emotions and manage them, either by observing that these feelings will come and go, or being mature enough to channel them into a body of work.
One difficult lesson I am learning as a sensitive creator who bravely shares her life experiences and bares her soul on a daily basis is to not take everything so personally. This is very difficult to do when you are passionate about your business, your mission, and your goal and others don’t feel as hot about it. Or worse, the virtual strangers on the internet who hate-watch your growth spend their time judging, nagging, and nitpicking your hard work and vulnerability in hopes that you will give up and become just as miserable as they are.
