On Black Beauty: Why The Natural Hair Community Is Full Of Shit!
You are deserving of everything you want and need, right in this moment. Not in the future when you have reached your #hairgoals.
Black women need to realize that the only reason why the majority of them want long hair is not because it is healthy or looks the most attractive on them. Healthy hair does not come in any one length. Hairstyles that compliment your face and makes you look your best can be shaved, loc’ed, short, medium, or long. But many black women are fanatical about achieving long hair because they believe it will earn them the dick of their dreams.
In other words, they are so invested in their hair because they think true love is attached to the other end of their hair journey.
When the black community celebrated what appeared to be a movement of black women discarding the weaves and wigs to embrace their natural hair, along with the growing natural hair community on YouTube, I quickly realized that black women were not truly embracing themselves until certain parameters were met. They were only embracing their curls if they were long enough, “defined” enough, and suffocating from slathering on five million styling products. Apparently our hair is not acceptable in its natural state.
