On Black Fatherhood: Black Men Need To Quit Gaslighting Themselves!

“The same black men who cannot stand single mothers are the same men who were raised by them.”

The saying, “The truth will set you free” is a statement that has rang true throughout the ages. This quote can apply to pretty much any situation we present it with, especially the topic of black fatherhood.

It is no secret that the black community is largely made up of fatherless homes. And while many black men (and their handmaidens who are also single mothers themselves) choose to point the finger at black single mothers, toting that the majority of these ladies are intentionally dividing their families in half and forcing their kids to choose between mum and dad, I cannot help but notice a glaring detail that adds to the hypocrisy of these claims.

Before I introduce my argument, I should remind my readers that there is more to the fatherless home predicament than meets the eye. You see, it is convenient to disparage single mothers for raising children by their lonesome, whether intentionally or by way of circumstances beyond their control. However, many of us fail to connect how the sky high rates of abuse in the black community contribute to this situation in the first place.
