“I refuse to martyr myself for the completely made-up religious morals that other people willingly burn themselves at the stakes of life for.”

There is a reason why the unpopular demonic trait of selfishness serves as the cornerstone of my life. I know my stance is not for the faint of heart. I know that minding your own business requires you to not intervene in shit that has nothing to do with you, even when your emotions are begging you to give in. But from personal experience, selfishness can save you from sacrificing your money, your business, and even your safety and life for no reason that is productive. And I refuse to martyr myself for the completely made-up religious morals that other people willingly burn themselves at the stakes of life for.

My friend sent me a TikTok reel of an Uber driver who made the decision to cancel a trip made by a male passenger. In the clip she recalled the man stepping into her car after his wife and kids hugged and kissed him goodbye. Once the trip commenced the driver was instructed to make a stop along the way to the final destination. The stop included the man’s mistress who had a small piece of luggage, so we can assume that the two were planning a romantic getaway that the wife knew nothing about.
