On Deception: Games Aren’t Fun When You Know You’re Going To Lose

I just woke up from a dream that shocked me. In this dream I ran into a guy whom I’ve known since childhood. He was my very good friend and classmate from since I was small. Once we ended up going to different high schools we grew apart. He fell into the wrong crowd, and eventually landed himself in jail for a few years.

Once he got out he moved to another state, got married, and started a family. Months ago I discovered that he was alive and well on Instagram. His wife is a woman whom I’ve known for a long time, and from her social media feed alone I could tell that she was very proud to be a mother and wife, like most women are. To belong to one man is the dream for many ladies out there. While I scrolled through the many photos of her beautiful, smiling family I couldn’t help but notice that something was off. I couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

Until I had that dream.

In the dream my old friend and I ended up catching up over lunch. All of a sudden he announces that he needed to tell me something. He leans over and whispers in my ear that while he has a wife and family he is secretly gay, and requested that I not say anything.

I remembered holding my composure and doing my best to act nonchalant about this news. I proceeded as if he told me something that…
