I just got home from a fun-filled day at Busch Gardens with my brother. He decided to take me to the amusement park on a whim, and I appreciate a break from the monotonous responsibilities of running a business to relive the nostalgia I experienced as a little girl when I visited the park for the first time.

We walked 8.5 miles around the park, and frequented the fastest roller coasters a minimum of two times. On the only water ride that was open we met three teenaged girls who were way too happy to be skipping school; they screamed in laughter when us adults pieced together their plan to intentionally put their education aside for the day. My brother also had the pleasure of receiving quite a few compliments on his long locs…and the displeasure of an elderly white woman actually reaching out to grab his hair without his permission. He shoved her hand away in disgust while she continued to smile and talk to him like she did nothing wrong. So there were highlights and pain points in our day, but overall we had a great time.

My feet are burning, my two legs are aching, my voice is shot from screaming while being flipped over multiple times on those steel machines they call roller coasters, and I am extremely dehydrated and sleep-deprived; I was awake from 1:30 AM this morning to get some work done in anticipation for this day of relaxation…
