Raise Better Sons Or Don’t Have Them At All?

“When mothers-to-be find out they’re having a son, do they actually think about the values they want to instill in their child, or are these ladies just relieved to become a mother at any cost, and the world is forced to deal with whatever they birth from their wombs and raise half-assed?”

I was having a difficult time concentrating on my workout this evening. I should have been focused on starting another set of squats, but the following statement had me pacing in circles around my basement, as I have heard it time and time again without really questioning its validity:

“Boys are easier to raise than girls.”

From childless people to parents alike, both parties agree by and large with this statement. And my annoying, inquisitive nature forced me to probe deeper, as this widely accepted narrative contributes to the same blame we place on the traumatized women who dare to share a planet filled with entitled, abusive males and their parents who barely raised them.

Are boys easier to raise than girls because it is more convenient on your time, lifestyle, and emotional and mental capacities to say, “Boys will be boys” instead of buckling down to actually cultivate decent men?

Are boys easier to raise than girls because you want to opt out of actually raising your sons and…
