“There aren’t too many people out there who believe in themselves, so you showing up for yourself each and every day is a pretty bold move.

It may seem normal for you, as discipline is all in a day’s work. But what you are doing is iconic.”

A while back I published an article about my writing journey. And I distinctly remember reading a comment from a young woman whose words still ring in my head to this very day. To summarize, she said that the passion I had for writing wasn’t that serious because according to her, writers are not out here saving lives.

I remember thinking to myself, “Well, how do you know that?” Who was she to say that writers shouldn’t take their calling seriously? I have scrolled through the comments of some YouTube channels where fans would praise content creators for taking the time out to consistently post new videos, as their content was the only ray of sunshine in their lives due to living with depression. I have even read messages where viewers said that these videos saved their lives.

I intentionally remained in control of my emotions and didn’t respond to her. I do not allow anyone’s words to sabotage my money. Because I knew she would return to my writings and read them, which in turn would pay me.
