Recalling The Time When A Man Had The Audacity To Pee My Bed

I oftentimes talk about how I never, ever want to live with a man. Sharing a home with anyone I’m romantically involved with is a no-go for me. I believe that my home is my sacred space to relax and rejuvenate my spirit. And I do not want a man’s energy or imprint in my space.

But the experience that really finalized my decision to say, “Hell no!” to any thoughts of cohabiting was when a man had the audacity to pee my bed.

One evening my lover met me after work at my job. We planned an evening together since we haven’t seen each other in a while. Like the gentleman he was raised to be, he picked up my work bag, held my hand, and walked on the outside near the curb to protect me while we chatted and laughed all the way to the train station.

Before we went back to my place we stopped at the store to pick up a bottle of liquor to accompany the meal I was planning to prepare. Come to think of it, he was the only man I ever cooked for.

Back at my house, he settled in while I started on dinner. He came back to the kitchen to help me chop some vegetables. While he enjoys cooking alongside me I actually hate sharing the kitchen with anyone; actually, I hate sharing close quarters in general.
